Religious education provides rich opportunities for children and young people in Derbyshire to learn about things that matter in the lives of many people in the local area and the wider world. Shardlow Primary School follows the Derbyshire SACRE agreed syllabus and we use the Plan Bee scheme of work in line with this. This syllabus sets up RE so that pupils study beliefs, teachings and ways of living, and so that they can explore a range of responses to questions of identity, meaning, purpose, values and commitments. In the process they can examine and reflect upon their own ideas and values. Understanding people’s beliefs can be a first step to recognising and appreciating diversity.
