Did you know?

Shardlow Primary School is an 'Early Adopter' school. This means that we will be trialling the new Early Years Curriclum before it becomes statutory in September 2021. Take a look at the document below which outlines the new objectives we will be covering in Trent Class.

You can also find the 'Early Learning Goals' below. These are the objectives we aim to meet by the end of the academic year in Reception.

Trent Class love to read!

We love sharing stores in Trent Class. Sometimes we choose books from the reading corner, sometimes we we like to read books that our friends bring in from home!

Please continue this love of reading at home! The children will bring a reading book home every week and have access to Oxford Reading Buddy (see more on the 'Parents' tab!).

We also have our 'Share a Story' scheme up and running for Trent Class. Every Monday, the children will recieve a share a story book to share with you at home. Keep reading this over the week and return it to school on the Friday of the same week.

Phonics

We will be learning 'Set 2' sounds this half term.

Why not take a look at...

Phonics Play: this is a fantastic website to practice those all-important segmenting and blending skills! We are focusing on ‘Phase 2 sounds'.

Alphablocks: Alphablocks is a series on YouTube designed to help children remember letter sounds, names and practice blending.

Teach Monster: this is an app that can be downloaded on any smart phone or tablet to practice letter sounds, tricky words and early reading.

Jolly Phonics: jolly phonics songs and actions! Practice the 'Phase 2' actions.
